Umm. This has been a really long time
Okay so I am now in my last class of the semester and I am super excited about it. I have learned a great deal of things but I have also become very passionate about the quality of my education. I have complained to close friends and family about my American National Government teacher and the constant emphasis on Operation Enduring Freedom and Health care legislation. I felt as though it was more of an indoctrination towards feeling conservative sentiments than towards discussing the constitution and how it plays into the role of policymaking, the federalist system, the way our government operates and the role of the citizen in the political process. This class has frustrated me beyond belief; if you don't believe me you can ask Joanie Melville, who happened to sit next to me everyday from about the second week of class. The second class that frustrates me is Exceptional Students. Why, you might ask, I will tell you. So, I have been raised in a home of a public educator all of my life and I as such I have been socialized to have certain sentiments towards public education and the way that it is adminstrated. As that is how I have been raised I may have weird views but one of them is that teaching through texts and learning how teach through textbooks is not an effective way to learn about teaching or how to teach. I also feel that the School of Education faculty at UVU have all been out of the classroom for too long and they just trust what the textbook publishers say is the current trends and reality in classrooms. I am a wingnut about it though so my opinions should be disregarded and then voila I get in this train of thought. But that is kinda beside the point. So the semester is over.
